/EINPresswire.com/ BOULDER, CO - February 1, 2011 -- CSO Insights announces the release of their 17th annual Sales Performance Optimization (SPO) study. Over 2,000 firms worldwide took part in the 2011 research effort. The survey participants provided input on over 100 metrics which yielded a wealth of insights into how sales organizations performed in 2010, the challenges they face in 2011, and what are firms doing to address these challenges.

Key findings show that the percentage of sales people making quota rose from 51.8% in 2009 to 59.4% in 2010, leading to company-wide revenue plan attainment improving from 77.9% to 84.7% on a year-to-year comparison basis. While these were major improvements, win rates of forecast deals remained near all-time study lows, coming in at 46.4%.

"We applaud the efforts of sales teams who found ways to hit their higher numbers last year," said Jim Dickie, managing partner. "But the study data show many sales people made their quotas in 2010 by working harder, and not necessarily smarter. With 92% of the firms surveyed reporting that they have increased quotas for 2011, companies are going to have to find ways to get win rates back up above 50%. This will require new methods for increasing the effectiveness of their sales organizations."

"Clearly there are many things you can do to more effectively leverage people, process, technology and knowledge. New Low Carbon Elevated Bus Coming to Ease US Traffic

Los Angeles, October 25, 2010 -- Mr. Song Youzhou, inventor of the Straddling Bus announces that his company in Shenzhen, China has formed a US based company to handle partnerships and licensing of an extraordinary vehicle. Their American venture, US Elevated High-Speed Bus (Group) Inc., has responsibility for business development in the Americas and Europe. The new company is interested in partnering with U.S. specialized vehicle manufacturers to build Mr. Song's design. The company is also seeking transportation industry manufacturer's representatives for Central America, South America and Europe.

The Elevated High-Speed Bus carries passengers above street level and can travel on rails or special painted guidelines. British Airways Flies Down Mexico Way

[NYSE: NOC] today announced a strategic partnership to pursue the competitive development and sustainment contract for future work on the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

Boeing will build on its experience of supporting the MDA as prime contractor for the development, deployment, integration and testing of the GMD weapon system since 2001. Northrop Grumman is responsible for designing and deploying the command-and-control systems that form the backbone of the GMD ground system, known as GMD Fire Control/Communications (GFCC) products. GFCC products connect and orchestrate GMD components that launch and guide interceptors in flight. Northrop Grumman has developed and sustained ground-based missile systems for more than 50 years and has been prime contractor for the U.S. Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system since 1997. Technical Center Signs Agreement to Research Unmanned Aircraft Systems in the National Airspace System

June 9, 2010 -- The Federal Aviation Administration's William J. Hughes Technical Center has established a cooperative research and development agreement with Insitu Inc., of Bingen, Washington, and the New Jersey Air National Guard to study unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and to address their integration into the national airspace system (NAS).

Insitu Inc., a wholly-owned, independent subsidiary of The Boeing Company, will provide two ScanEagle aircraft and their related support hardware and data to the FAA. The FAA will conduct research to guide development of recommendations for integrating unmanned aircraft systems into the national airspace system. The research will be managed by the FAA's Research and Technology Development office and conducted at the Technical Center.

The two-year agreement will enable FAA scientists to study and better understand UAS design, construction and functionality. Also, researchers will look at the differences in how an air traffic controller would manage an unmanned aircraft vs. a manned aircraft, by integrating the ScanEagle system into Technical Center air traffic control simulations and studies.

Insitu will train FAA pilots and support staff to fly and maintain the system, and will supply documentation related to the ScanEagle system. The flight testing will take place over the New Jersey Air National Guard's Warren Grove Range, 20 miles north of the Technical Center.

UAS now fly within the national airspace system under certificates of authorization, or FAA waivers. The waiver process is issued for public entities and determined on a case-by-case basis, with most UAS operations segregated from other air traffic. More than 1,500 types of UAS are in production worldwide, so it is important to establish the parameters to enable them to operate within the NAS, safely and efficiently.

UAS are cleared to fly in restricted airspace, including the military airspace at Warren Grove Range, owned and operated by the New Jersey Air National Guard.

The ScanEagle has flown more than 315,000 hours in military operations, providing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. It can fly more than 24 hours at a time, and has been used in many civil applications, including search and rescue operations, fire and flood monitoring and evacuation efforts conducted in hazardous weather.

A cooperative research and development agreement, or CRDA, is an agreement between a federal laboratory and a collaborating partner. The partners leverage their resources by providing personnel, services, facilities, equipment, intellectual property and/or other resources to conduct specific research or development efforts to further the FAA's mission. That continuing mission is to provide the safest, most efficient airspace system in the world. The government provides no funds in these agreements, but the collaborating party may reimburse the government for related expenses.

Honeywell Converter Offers Reliable Measurement In Sustained Temperatures Up To 225⁰C

Converter Reduces Operator and Lifecycle Costs

PHOENIX, June 8, 2010 -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) introduced today a new High Temperature Analog-to-Digital 12-bit Converter (HTADC12) enabling reliable measurement and control in high temperature environments like those experienced in deep drilling operations and inside large jet engines.

"Honeywell's HTADC12 is four times faster and has four times better resolution when compared to competing products that operate in similar demanding high temperature applications," said Keith Nootbaar, senior director of Microelectronics and Precision Sensors, Honeywell Aerospace. "The HTADC12 can be used in energy exploration and large jet engine control applications for dependable, efficient measurement and control."

The HTADC12 provides 12 bit resolution at 100,000 samples per second for temperatures up to 225oC. The component can sustain reliable 225oC operation for five years or more, and is scheduled for release in August 2010.

Oil, gas and geothermal drilling costs increase based on well depth and tool failures, and accompanying downtime is particularly costly. HTADC12's ability to operate reliably at extreme temperatures increases drill time, and reduces operator cost.

The HTADC12 also finds use in the large jet engine control application, where it provides direct measurement and control as part of instrumentation and control modules mounted at various high temperature locations throughout the engine, which help reduce lifecycle costs.

Key process technology for the HTADC12 was developed in the mid-2000s by Honeywell as part of the Deep Trek Program, funded by the Department of Energy, and supported from an industry consortium that included major energy exploration companies.

American Airlines Braces for Strike; British Airways Walkout Continues

May 26, 2010 /EIN Presswire/ -- Talks between American Airlines and the flight attendants union have broken down with no new sessions scheduled. Airline management has begun preparations for a system-wide strike.

In an email sent Tuesday to company managers, American Airlines asked for employees to volunteer as flight attendants in case of a work stoppage. The e-mail said volunteers might work more than six straight days, and they "may encounter challenging interactions with other crew members."

American's predicament comes on the heels of a British Airways walk-out. BA workers have been on strike since Monday, disrupting flights at Heathrow and other airports.
