SecureAlert, Inc. (OTCBB: SCRA) (OTCQB: SCRA), a leading international provider of patented, wireless electronic monitoring systems and services to global public safety agencies, announced today its financial results for the second fiscal quarter ended March 31, 2012.

For the three months ended March 31, 2012, the Company reported revenues of $4,903,954, representing an increase of $1,014,923, or 26%, compared to second quarter 2011 revenues of $3,889,031.

The Company has also achieved record year-to-date, or six-month, revenues of $10,458,658, compared to $7,565,995 for the six months ended March 31, 2011, representing an increase of $2,892,663, or 38%. Importantly, the Company's monitoring revenues for the six-month period reached a record of $8,993,665, compared to $7,113,210 for the same six-month period of 2011, an increase of $1,880,455, or 26%. As the Company's core business, this revenue increase represents the continued growth that the Company continues to achieve from serving both domestic and international clients.

Additionally, while SecureAlert continues to post record fiscal year-to-date revenues, the Company reported a stable quarterly gross profit margin of 47% through the six months ended March 31, 2012, which is also a historical year-to-date achievement.

Hastings further commented, "Most importantly, long gone are our days of negative gross profit margins. Now, as a leaner operation, we have rededicated ourselves to deliver target gross margins at, or above, 60%, as we believe we can do better than our record achievements of 47% gross margins. In effect, we have implemented several cost-cutting and efficiency initiatives, which should not only result in meaningful gross margin improvements, but should drive net income attainment and future profitability," concluded Hastings.

Performance Analysis Kit Delivers Benchmark Results in Minutes

The CPAK incorporates a Cadence double data rate (DDR3) Memory Controller together with an ARM® Cortex™-A9 MPCore™ processor, and industry-standard benchmarks, such as those from EEMBC®.

Mobius Photonics Granted U.S. Patent for Laser System With Tailored Pulse Bursts

Mobius Photonics, an innovative producer of short pulsed fiber laser sources (IR, UV, and visible wavelengths), has been granted a United States patent for "Tailored Pulse Burst." The patent number is 8,160,113.

The patent covers a unique optical system that can produce user-specified bursts of laser pulses tailored in pulse heights, pulse widths, and pulse spacings. Unlike some technologies, the system does not require an acousto-optic modulator or internal Q-switch. The invention has particular relevance for applications requiring a simple laser system that produces consistent, high-quality pulse bursts that can be customized for different processes. Potential applications range from high-pulse-energy materials processing to laser direct imaging and solar panel processing.

Embedded UHF RFID Brings Novel Capabilities to Electronic Devices, Enabling Improvements in Supply Chain Security, Efficiency and Retail Customer Experience

Leading UHF Gen 2 radio frequency identification (RFID) technology provider Impinj, Inc. today announced the Monza® X-2K Dura and Monza X-8K Dura RFID tag chips which unlock new benefits in embedded RFID applications for consumer electronics manufacturers. The new, packaged chip offerings, which are compatible with traditional printed circuit board manufacturing, feature expanded memory with flexible configuration and control along with an added digital wireline interface for direct communication with other on-board components such as microprocessors or sensors. While a microprocessor can access the Monza X chip's memory under powered operation, an RFID reader can access the Monza X chip's memory even when the board is powered off. This dual memory access allows users, device manufacturers and service providers to control the functionality of an electronic device by modifying memory contents wirelessly via RFID, then reading this configuration information via the wireline link at power-up.

The innovative capabilities of the Monza X Dura chips enable a wide range of applications for electronics, including device locking in the supply chain to deter theft, changing device configuration, such as country or language settings, and controlling functionality based on the location of a device, such as in a retail store, library or secure facility. Other capabilities include using the digital wireline interface to connect environmental sensors, which can store data in the Monza X chip's memory and later communicate that information via RFID to a reader.

This capability automates the price-updating process, reducing costs and human error. The second application showed how Intel uses Monza X chips in their reference designs for Windows 8 tablets to deter theft by locking the tablet while in transit. Here, the Monza X chip configures the tablet as "unusable" until an RFID reader encodes the Monza X chip's memory appropriately at point of sale. Impinj also demonstrated how retailers can load gift cards or special offers onto the tablet at point of sale through the Monza X chip while the tablet is still in its unopened box and powered off.

Special Operations Apps/System for Optical Attachments — also known as [SOA]2 — can allow geo-tagging in the standard Military Grid Reference System in frame-stamped high-definition video, geo-located and accurate within seven (7) meters.
