Survey of Christian Homeschool Alumni: 1600 Participants and Climbing
The 2014 Survey of Adult Alumni of the Modern Christian Homeschool Movement remains open to new responses until Monday, September 15 at 11:59pm PST.
According to HARO board member Ryan Stollar, “This survey is open to anyone over the age of 18, who was homeschooled for at least 7 years. We are interested in your experiences, whether they were positive or negative and whether you are still a Christian or not. By ‘Christian,’ we are including the broadest possible definition, including Christian-identified new religious movements.”
“The purpose of this survey,” Stollar says, “is to collect data that past studies of homeschool alumni have not.“
Widely cited statistics from Ray (1994) and Rudner (1999) are now between ten and twenty years old. Meanwhile, more recent studies have been criticized2 for shortcomings that include poorly worded questions and small sample sizes.
Stollar says, “HARO’s survey was developed in consultation with the nonpartisan Coalition for Responsible Home Education3. We have done our very best to create fair, balanced questions without any leading or attempts to skew the results. Surveys are anonymous and the results will be used for informational purposes only.”
