Xbox 360 Kinect to Retail for $149, Microsoft Says
Motion-sensing peripheral bundled with 'Kinect Adventures'
July 21, 2010 -- Microsoft announced that its motion-sensing peripheral, Kinect, will sell for $149.99 this holiday season. The company will also sell an Xbox 360 bundle that includes an Xbox 360 4GB console, Kinect and Kinect Adventures for $299.99.
According to the company, more than 15 games will be available for Kinect this holiday, including the pack-in Kinect Adventures, a game of 20 "adventures" where players navigate rapids and duck and dodge through mountaintop obstacle courses -- all without the use of a controller. The Kinect sensor detects the player's movement.
Other games slated for release include "Kinectimals," "Kinect Sports," "Kinect Joy Ride" and MTV Games' and Harmonix's "Dance Central." In addition to games, Kinect lets users control their Xbox 360's functionality through voice commands and hand gestures. According to Microsoft, users can begin a movie by simply saying, "Xbox, play," or browse through a music list with the wave of a hand.
