NORTHERN SPECIALTY CHEMICALS COMPANY ACQUIRED BY SYNTHRON
/EINPresswire.com/Paris, 27 September 2011 - After the acquisition of MACE POLYMERS & ADDITIVES in the USA in 2009, a 75% participation in the capital of HOLQUIMICA in Colombia in 2010, SYNTHRON announces its development on the chemical products paper market with the purchase of NORTHERN SPECIALITY CHEMICALS in Woonsocket (Rhode Island) in the USA during the summer of 2011 by its parent company PROTEX INTERNATIONAL.
Founded in 1932, PROTEX INTERNATIONAL is an independent French industrial group which develops, manufactures and commercializes chemical products by providing its expertise in various businesses : Agriculture, Fine and Specialty Chemicals, Electronics, Paints, Inks, Textile, Paper … for niche markets with high diversification and an important international presence.
In 2011, PROTEX INTERNATIONAL will report an annual world turnover of 130 million Euros of which 80% is outside of France, with 500 employees location in over 20 subsidiaries, in Europe, USA, South America and Asia.
The chemical products paper market represents over 11% of the activity of PROTEX INTERNATIONAL and the acquisition of NORTHERN SPECIALITY CHEMICALS aims at further developing this segment, and thereby favour synergies with the French subsidiary SYNTHRON which also intervenes in this market.
This operation will enable to optimize the potential which exists both for SYNTHRON and NORTHERN SPECIALITY CHEMICALS : cross-functional R&D, optimization of production capacities, development of turnover and access to new clients, and new countries.
The range of SYNTHRON products covers:
- the production of paper pulp : sequestering, tarter inhibition, stabilizer for hydrogen peroxide…
- fireproofings, waterproofings…
- the damp part : dye fixative, stickies treatment…,
- the « size-press » with slip agents, insolubilizing…,
- or even sleeping auxiliaires: water retaining agents, dispersants, de-aerating…
The products of NORTHERN SPECIALITY CHEMICALS are:
- anti-slip agents,
- fireproofings, waterproofings,
- water retainers, waterproofing, spreading agent,
- wax emulsions…
Historically, the Group is centred on R&D dynamics and follows a policy of cross-functional R&D in its 6 laboratories worldwide, advocating a « culture of innovation » realized by the filing of new patents.
Also, SYNTHRON and NORTHERN will share their know-how - within their respective laboratoires - in order to develop new products, ecologically and environmentally efficient, which will be manufactured and commercialized in the USA and then in France, on the site located in Auzouer-en-Touraine (Indre et Loire Department).
Based initially in Woonsocket on Rhode Island, the activity of NORTHERN SPECIALTY CHEMICALS was recently transferred to Dudley, in the Massachussetts where the MACE POLYMERS & ADDITIVES industrial site is located on an area of 3,7 ha, and which disposes of state-of-the-art equipment and material, in order to optimize the existing production capacities.
The products which will be manufactured there will be sold by NORTHERN SPECIALITY CHEMICALS in the USA and in Canada and will be supported by the salesforce network of the Group.
SYNTHRON will continue to promote its products on its present markets and develop its position on North American and Canadian markets.
With the advantage of having a regular organic development, thanks to a dynamic and rigorous management, which privileges the long term and despite a slower economic environment, PROTEX INTERNATIONAL aims at significant growth in the future through other targeted human-sized acquisitions as well as newly establishing itself in several countries, and continuing to recruit new employees, with a scientific and commercial background.
