RAPC Introduces Marine Grade, Compact Computer & Complete Monitoring System at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show
RAPC NAUTILUS System, compact, PC with Dual Processor and Complete Station Monitoring System with GPS & UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) installed on the Apache at Pier 66 - enhances operations & safety.
created a more positive work environment without necessarily increasing spending
Paoli, PA November 1, 2009 -- Real Auto PC, Inc. (RAPC), a designer of compact computing systems for the automotive, marine, security and defense industries, will be showcasing its marine grade, compact computing and monitoring system, with true dual processing and UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) at the 2009 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. The system has been installed on the Apache, a 105 ft custom ketch on Pier 66 and will be available for viewing.
The Nautilus is 6in (W) x 6 in (H) x 10 in (D) yet is a fully functional PC with dual Pentium processors, Windows XP, and an 80 Gig Hard Drive. Designed for power users, the system offers Full PC and Internet capabilities as well as Complete System & Engine Monitoring, Internal GPS & Compasses, and uses fully validated software and hardware platforms which meet marine standards including Furuno MaxSea-3D NavNet-Explorer and Raymarine. Optional features include Removable Hard Drives, Audio/Video Capture Module, Marine Grade Rugged Monitors & Keyboard, 60 Channel I/O Boards, Free Wave Communications.
The hardware is built to marine standards for temperature, humidity, salt corrosion, vibration and shock with a patented internal protection cushion. Low heat dissipation (no greater than body temperature) and low power consumption make the unit ideal for confined spaces or compartments, as well as offering the option to mount the unit in a hidden area for extra security. Internal UPS protects against power fluctuations and power loss, and can sustain the unit for 60 minutes. In addition, the unit is capable of operating from a solar panel with out any modification.
"The Nautilus has enhanced both the operation and safety of the Apache," according to Tom Cotter, Captain of the Apache. "On one computer screen I can monitor what is going on from the engine room to radar to the navigation station, and if there was ever a catastrophic event and we lost all power, The Nautilus UPS kicks in and I have full navigation and compass."
A single processor system, The NEMO, is available for smaller vessels.
