Gazpromneft-Aero introduces satellite monitoring of aircraft refuelling tankers

Gazpromneft-Aero, operator of the Gazprom Neft aviation refuelling business, has become the first of Russia’s aviation refuelling companies to equip itself with approximately 300 transport vehicles, including 160 aircraft refuelling tankers, equipped with a vehicular traffic satellite monitoring system, the developer of which is a leading domestic hardware and software producer.

Digital receivers installed in the aircraft tankers transmit information on routes, speed and vehicle manoeuvres in transit to the monitoring system, in real time, at 50 airports at which the company operates. Additional receivers remotely record the operation of flashing beacons, headlights, and drivers’ use of seatbelts when following aircraft on the ground. The monitoring system, connected to onboard computers in the aircraft refuelling trucks, analyses information on a vehicle’s technical condition, allowing online monitoring of vehicles’ technical status and operation.

Gazpromneft-Aero CEO Vladimir Egorov commented: “A key objective in implementing the satellite monitoring system is improving transport safety at those airports at which the company operates. The automation of technological processes and remote monitoring of aviation refuelling operations at any airport, beyond question improves Gazpromneft-Aero’s operational efficiency and that of our partnering aviation companies.”
