He only has one more step to hurdle. That step level is the approval from the city, which is most important in this situation.

Agazim has been hoping to make a meaningful event out of this 50/50 raffle. He has worked hard to plan the fundraiser and is just waiting to hear from the city about letting him host.

The reason for the urgency of the event is because Agazim intends on donating half of the money gathered to the local recreation department. One step Agazim has finalized getting the okay to have the raffle at the next sports banquet.

"The banquet coordinators were excited about my intention to host the fundraiser at their banquet," says Agazim. "Because the money will go back into the department, this is the best option to get the most eyes on the fundraiser. The more people attend, the more money for the teams."

How Did The Idea Gain So Much Traction?
"For a 50/50 raffle fundraiser, it has to a large attendance," recalls Agazim. "The idea of having it at the sports banquet came to me after talking with some the parents. They mention the large banquet takes place at the end of the winter season. No better way to raise money and help the children out. New equipment and jerseys will go a long way."

As Agazim researched, he realized the banquet is usually just a dinner and held in honor of the team's season. There is a meal provided, and awards are handed out to star athletes. Combining the raffle to the banquet means one happy person is going to take home half of the money collected.

The other share of the money will go to the recreation department. No matter how many tickets sold, the district will be gaining much-needed funds. In this economy, there isn't much help from the city when it comes to recreation sports for children.

"Any number will help, but I have a feeling the turnout will be large," adds Agazim. "I'm expecting for a lot of tickets sold, because of more tickets a person purchases, the higher chance they have to win the pot."

Recreation Department Grateful For Purposed Contribution

Erik Agazim has talked in-depth with the recreation office about how the donation money will help the children's sports teams.

The share of the money raised from the raffle will go towards new equipment. Also, travel expenses for the teams that make tournaments out of the area. Any leftover money will go towards new uniforms, which will replace torn and old clothing they use now.

Hundreds of boys and girls play sports throughout the town during the year. The baseball and softball teams would benefit from the funds with new bats and gloves for the teams. Plus, new practice equipment for indoor use would be much appreciated.

"Helmets cost a lot of money, so I know a large portion will go towards buying them," says Agazim.

Agazim Purchases Necessary Equipment For Raffle

Agazim has purchased fliers, tickets, and necessary merchandise for the fundraiser raffle. Because of the low budget, the recreation department will get a high return from the dinner. This reasoning was the primary backing of Agazim's thought process.

"The ball is in the city's court," says Agazim. "I hope they jump on board and allow me to hold the fundraiser. I know it's the process to get it approved, but I'm confident I have made all the necessary preparations to get recognized. I'm excited about the banquet and helping the community."
