Smyte Hires Seasoned SaaS & Security Software Exec to Lead Sales

Former Riverbed Technology and PatternEx VP Travis Reed will help Smyte accelerate adoption of its SaaS anti-abuse platform among social networks and enterprises

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 12, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Smyte has named Travis Reed as its Vice President of Sales, putting the company in a strong position to capitalize on a successful 2017, and to accelerate adoption of its SaaS trust-and-safety platform. Through November, Smyte has increased sales 200% year-over-year. Current customers include online business leaders GoFundMe, Quora, TaskRabbit, Carousell and Meetup.

Reed joins Smyte from PatternEx, where he was Vice President of Sales for the Americas, and helped the security software company achieve record growth during his tenure. Before PatternEx, Reed was Vice President of Sales for the Americas at Riverbed Technology, which he joined through the acquisition of Zeus Technology. At Zeus, where Reed was General Manager for the Americas region, he led the successful development of its SaaS business. Under Reed’s leadership, Zeus Americas achieved strong product/market fit and consistently exceeded key traction metrics. Upon acquisition by Riverbed, the SaaS business he developed had multiple millions of dollars in ARR and hundreds of customers.

At Smyte, Reed will focus on growing the company’s current customer base – peer-to-peer networks and social platforms – and expanding into enterprise accounts. His background will be useful in helping companies protect growth by thwarting bad actors intent on abusing accounts, communities, and payments. Smyte’s abuse management platform is an all-in-one solution for combatting account takeover, payment fraud, content policy violation, spam, phishing, and peer to peer collusion.

“Travis is an innovative and enthusiastic startup leader with a proven track record of successfully bringing new SaaS products to market,” says Pete Hunt, Co-founder and CEO at Smyte. “His background in SaaS and security software make him a great fit for what we do and where we want to go. We’re excited to have Travis on the team, and look forward to his leadership in building our sales organization.”

“Smyte is pioneering a new and incredibly important market in abuse management,” says Reed. “Everyday we’re reminded that online companies can ill-afford being lax in protecting their customers against fraud, scams and harassment. Pete and his team have done a great job laying the groundwork for how companies can use a combination of software and services to combat these issues. The next step is getting Smyte’s platform into the hands of more users. I look forward to leading this charge on the sales side, and helping more companies build trust and safety with their customers.”
