Durham to bring unique skillset to both American College of Neurocognitive Medicine and American Board of Neuropsychiatry

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, October 9, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Boards of Directors of the American College of Neurocognitive Medicine (ACNM) and the American Board of Neuropsychiatry have accepted the recommendation of a joint senior leadership committee to appoint Dr. David Durham to the post of Executive Vice-President. Additionally, he will serve on the governing council of the American Board of Neuropsychiatry. Current board chair Dr. Richard Weinberger, a former professor at Harvard and venture fund manager, praised the selection. "Durham is an exceptional neuropsychiatrist who has helped elevate the standards of our profession to new levels of excellence. His former experience as a management consultant and his reputation for reinvigorating both academic and private healthcare organizations coupled with his dedication to clinical excellence is probably the most unique skillset I have yet encountered in a leader of this quality." Dr. Durham is the former host of Fox Broadcasting's FirstHealth with Dr. Dave which ran from 2004 through 2007. He has authored numerous academic articles in various national and international peer reviewed journals and has been a dedicated advocate for underserved and at-risk populations. His most recent book Psychiatric Pharmacogenetics: from concepts to cases - written with co-author Dr. Ranjit Thirumaran - has been a best seller in it's category on Amazon, and has received wide acclaim. Dr. Durham is thought to be one of the likely candidates to become president of the ACNM in the future. During a brief press conference in their New York office, Dr. Durham was clearly moved, "This is an honor that I cannot truly describe. I have admired and sought counsel from Drs. Goodman and Weinberger for many years. They are exceptional men and to have their endorsement and support is truly a pinnacle of my career."
