Russia’s Third Oil and Gas Industry IT Forum Takes Place in St Petersburg, Again Supported by Gazprom Neft

Gazprom Neft has again partnered the oil and gas industry’s most important IT event, the third “Federal IT Forum of the Russian Oil and Gas Industry”, held in St Petersburg in September. More than 500 delegates took part in this event, including Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and senior business managers from Russia’s leading oil and gas enterprises and oil service companies, representatives of multinational industry-leading organisations involved in the development of software and hardware solutions for the fuel and energy sector, system integrators, leading consulting companies, and advanced development institutes, foundations and funds.

Key issues at this year’s two-day programme concerned the digital transformation of the oil and gas industry — from data management to “Real-Time Enterprise”* — and adapting approaches to “Industry 4.0”** in line with the specific needs of the domestic oil and gas sector.

Forum participants discussed various aspects of the digitisation oil and gas companies’ business operations, the use of “Big Data” and predictive analytics, artificial intelligence, cognitive computing and cloud solutions, issues relating to the introduction of the “Industrial Internet” and platform solutions for its application, as well as the development of integrated performance management centres.

The Forum also included an exhibition dedicated to the achievements of Russian and international software and equipment developers supplying the oil and gas industry. Forum organisers included Gazprom Neft’s own systems integrator and software developer, IT services company ITSK.

Konstantin Kravchenko, Head of Gazprom Neft’s IT, Automation and Telecommunications Department, commented: “Gazprom Neft is, again, the general partner to the IT Forum, for the third consecutive year — the most significant IT event in Russia, with topics that are always up-to-the-minute. The digital transformation of the industry is not about catching a glimpse of the future, but about those genuine industry needs and objectives which are, already, being addressed today. That is our view of the situation, and Gazprom Neft is already actively engaged in this. We call on all interested parties to do likewise.”

* “Real-Time Enterprise” refers to businesses that operate immediately in processing information and responding to adaptive delays, allowing real-time responses to client and environmental demands cohesively through restructuring business processes and constantly modernising their structure.

** Industry 4.0 is a range of concepts and technologies involving the use of intellectual systems and their integration through the “Industrial Internet of Things” (IIoT), as well as the automated management of these through the use of feedback-coupling systems and analysis of large volumes of data.
