Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk and Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk triumph in Spartakiada Games

Background

The main goals of Gazprom's Spartakiada Games are to promote a healthy lifestyle, share experience in physical training and mass sports, and maintain sports traditions.

Participants in the Spartakiada Games include the employees of Gazprom’s subsidiaries and children attending sports clubs sponsored by the subsidiaries. Participation is prohibited for members of Russian national teams and those taking part in zonal competitions, official national, European and global championships and tournaments, and the Olympic Games.

In 2017, the contest involved some 3,000 athletes from 29 subsidiaries of Gazprom based in Russia and Belarus. Adults competed in six categories – volleyball, kettlebell lifting, track-and-field athletics, swimming, chess, and football – while children’s teams vied for prizes in the last four. A total of 180 medals was handed out, with 23 prizes in team sports and 157 in individual sports.
