A white marble and granite sculpture named Romantics was inaugurated in Ukhta's Komsomolskaya Square on August 19, 2017, as part of the North in Three Dimensions symposium. The sculptural composition is a creation of Moscow artist Ilya Mishanin.

The new monument was unveiled by Sergey Gaplikov, Head of the Komi Republic, Alexander Gaivoronsky, Director General of Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta, and the sculptor.

“Let me thank all the people who helped us with this project. This monument is just the beginning of the effort to increase the appeal of our city's landmarks. I'm sure that this wonderful sculpture will become a popular attraction for local people and visitors. We see Romantics as a gift to our predecessors, the pioneers of this land, from today's generation of gas industry professionals,” said Alexander Gaivoronsky.

The sculpture, conceived as a tribute to all those who dedicated their lives to the land of Komi and the city of Ukhta, is now a notable feature of the square. Sculptor Ilya Mishanin said he hoped that Ukhta residents would like Romantics.

The inauguration ceremony took place on the eve of the City Day, the Komi Republic Day, and the 50th anniversary of Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta.
