Inprentus Contracted to Deliver X-Ray Diffraction Gratings to Spain's ALBA Synchrotron Light Source

Inprentus designs, manufactures and sells X-ray and EUV diffraction gratings for synchrotron radiation facilities that are used for a variety of scientific and commercial applications

Inprentus will deliver five diffraction gratings totaling 350,000 euros ($411,000) for use in two beamlines at the ALBA synchrotron facility outside Barcelona

CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS, UNITED STATES, September 6, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Inprentus has been awarded a contract to supply the ALBA Synchrotron with five custom designed blazed diffraction gratings for their LOREA and MISTRAL beamlines. One of the gratings will be installed into the existing MISTRAL beamline, upgrading the capabilities of their x-ray microscope. A set of four gratings will be installed in the monochromator of the new LOREA beamline, dedicated to investigations of electronic structure in materials. With this first European market win, Inprentus will deliver products which will enhance the quality of data in two areas of research and access a broader range of researchers from two international research communities.

Ron van Os, Inprentus' CEO commented, "We are proud to gain an important new customer like ALBA. This significant win has positioned Inprentus as key supplier of diffraction gratings in the European synchrotron market. Our unique nanolithography manufacturing process and ability to deliver on high-precision custom specifications is resonating well with customers around the world as we continue to grow."

Inprentus diffraction gratings enable beamline scientists to broaden the scope of their research and increase the accuracy of their work. The new diffraction grating manufacturing process from Inprentus is a general-purpose approach to high-precision patterning of surfaces, and is particularly suited to X-ray and EUV diffractive optics in which features must be shaped with 0.1-degree angular precision and positioned with nanometer precision over distances of tens of centimeters.

Spain's ALBA Synchrotron Light Source
ALBA is a 3rd generation Synchrotron Light facility located in Cerdanyola del Valles, Barcelona, Spain and is the newest light source in the Mediterranean area. The ALBA Synchrotron is managed by the Consortium for the Construction, Equipping and Exploitation of the Synchrotron Light Source (CELLS).
