The course is designed to provide organisations with the foundational knowledge to effectively manage and respond to a disruptive incident, in line with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Network and Information Security (NIS) Directive. It informs delegates of the appropriate steps organisations need to take to limit potential disruption to both network availability and an information security management system (ISMS).

Delegates attending the Incident Response Management Foundation training course will learn about effectively managing a cyber security incident from detection to follow-up, the incident scenarios for the most common attack vectors, the role of the incident response team, the key steps to tackle a cyber security incident, how to formulate an incident response plan, and how to prepare communications and reporting as per the GDPR and NIS Directive requirements.

The NIS Directive aims to achieve a high common level of network and information systems security across the EU by improving cyber security capabilities at the national level, increasing cooperation on cyber security among EU member states, and introducing security measures and incident reporting obligations for operations of essentials services (OESs) and digital service providers (DSPs).

The course supports professional development. Upon course completion, delegates will need to take the CIRM F examination – a 60-minute, multiple-choice, ISO 17024-accredited exam set by IBITGQ.
