CDAP Cloud Sandbox for Microsoft Azure Offers Rapid On-ramp and Time to Value for Big Data

/EINPresswire.com/ -- PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - July 18, 2017) - Cask (cask.co), a company that makes building and deploying big data solutions easy, today announced immediate availability of the Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP) Cloud Sandbox on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. Launched recently in order to simplify evaluation and testing of Cask's flagship offering, the CDAP Cloud Sandbox is a fully configured, fully functional but scale-limited single-node instance of CDAP that does not require users to set up an Apache Hadoop or Apache Spark cluster first, allowing them to get productive with Big Data quickly.

"As big data workloads are moving to the cloud, the number of technology options enterprises can choose from is exploding, and so is the magnitude of integration and operationalization efforts," said Jonathan Gray, founder and CEO at Cask. "Being able to get new users productive quickly by removing typical on-premises installation and configuration challenges, and accelerating the learning curve for Spark, Machine Learning and other emerging technologies, is key to enabling a quicker on-ramp and faster time to value for big data. The CDAP Cloud Sandbox for Azure helps jumpstart user productivity by offering an instantly available sandbox environment for developing, integrating and testing big data solutions designed for cloud, on-premises or hybrid deployments."

The CDAP Cloud Sandbox for Azure provides a complete and fully configured CDAP environment that allows users to be productive immediately. It includes the CDAP SDK, the runtime, the CDAP UI, the CDAP CLI, as well as a number of Azure-specific integrations, which are made available in Cask Market -- plugins for Azure Blob and Azure Data Lake stores, plugins for Azure Event Hub Real-time Sources, and a plugin to extract faces in a given set of images using Azure Cognitive APIs. Once the user is ready to deploy to production, work completed in the sandbox can be easily moved to a scalable, clustered environment with Azure HDInsight.

"The Microsoft Azure Marketplace connects developers and IT professionals with innovative cloud-based solutions that are ready to use," said Bharat Sandhu, Director Product Marketing, Big Data and Analytics, Microsoft Corp. "We are pleased to see Cask create a solution to support our mutual customers developing big data solutions in the cloud."
