UN-GGIM Private Sector Network (UNGGIM-PSN) is delighted to announce its new board and the launch of unggim-psn.org

NEW DELHI, INDIA, May 26, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- UN-GGIM Private Sector Network (UNGGIM-PSN) is delighted to announce its new board and the launch of unggim-psn.org, which aims to engage with the global geospatial industry. Sanjay Kumar, CEO, Geospatial Media and Communications, India, serves as the Chair of the PSN, supported by twelve board members from the global geospatial industry. Geospatial Media will act as the secretariat for the PSN and will be leading the outreach activities for the network.

UNGGIM-PSN has been established to proactively contribute to the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM).

Based on the contributions made by academia and industry for the past five years, UN-GGIM Committee of Experts discussed the proposal to endorse the establishment of the UN-GGIM Academic and Private Sector Networks. The PSN will be an informally structured network and is recognized as an official observer of UN-GGIM.

The network has 15 founding members consisting of Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), Esri, Geospatial Media and Communications, CRC for Spatial information (CRCSI) - Australia, AAM, DigitalGlobe, European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC), United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF), Hexagon AB, Harris Corporation, Oracle, Data World, Metaspatial, and Google.

The PSN will act as a gateway for the private sector to work with Member States towards achieving success in global geospatial initiatives. It will facilitate an ongoing dialogue for collaboration between and amongst members of UN-GGIM and participants of the PSN to develop, build, and extend the global capacity to benefit from geospatial information

The PSN intends to assist UN-GGIM in developing policies, processes, practices, capacities and recommendations for geospatial information infrastructure at national, regional, and global levels.
