British Council trains Angolan Air Force language trainers

In March, two English teachers from British Council, Elisabet da Rocha and Nicholas Fletcher, delivered a two-week training course at the Angolan Air Force Psychology Department and English School. They trained ten Angolan military and civilian English language teachers based in Luanda and Benguela.

The aim of the course was to enhance the skills of the Angolan instructors to enable them to deliver up to date and relevant military and aviation in English language to their students.

The course was funded by the UK’s Ministry of Defence. To achieve this the British Embassy collaborated with the Head of the Angolan Air Force General Francisco Afonso and the Head of the School and Head of the Psychology Department, Colonel Dinah.

Excellent facilities were provided for the instructors and students. After the course, the British Council donated all the language books and material to the school.

English is an important requirement for the Angolan Air Force to engage internationally and will allow them to keep up-to-date with the international developments.
