Virtual Driver Interactive Showcases One Simple Decision Simulation Program at Lifesavers Conference in Charlotte
Consequence-based distracted and impaired driving deterrent program targets teens, young adults and corporations with newest release focusing on drugged driving
The Lifesavers Conference, the largest national gathering of highway safety professionals in the United States, will celebrate 35 years of delivering solutions to today’s critical safety problems. VDI will be showcasing their newest release of One Simple Decision, an innovative simulation-based distracted and impaired driving program where actual law enforcement, judicial and medical personnel interact with the driver to modify driving behavior by illustrating the consequences of choices made behind the wheel. The most recent release of One Simple Decision focuses on the use of over-the-counter medications, prescription drugs, and illegal drugs and their effects on driving.
Driving simulators equipped with the One Simple Decision program emphasize the consequences associated with drugged driving and how they affect driver safety by impairing vehicle control and judgment. Through the combination of driving simulation, interactive quizzes, intense interactions and first-person consequences videos with real officers, judges and doctors, drivers are immersed in a gut-wrenching personal experience that results from “One Simple Decision” they chose to make when driving. The program not only scores driving infractions but also focuses on the actual legal, physical and psychological costs associated with impaired driving. Results from the system’s integrated survey platform prove that One Simple Decision is effective in changing the behavior of teens with eighty-six (86%) of teen/young adult participants saying that after experiencing One Simple Decision, they would rarely or never drive distracted.
Many of the conference attendees including hospitals, insurance agencies, law enforcement, non-profits, and schools are already using One Simple Decision: US Air Force, Illinois State Police, Mayo Clinic, US Army, AAA, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburg, UPS, New Jersey Manufacturer’s, Ohio Department of Transportation, and more.
“VDI’s One Simple Decision program is as close to real life as you can get without putting you in harm’s way,” said Todd Emanuel, Mayo Clinic Emergency Services.
“When you combine teens’ inexperienced driving with the use of drugs and alcohol that affect cognitive and motor abilities, the results can be catastrophic,” said Bob Davis, CEO & President of VDI. “We are committed to reducing distracted and impaired driving and excited to bring our latest One Simple Decision program to Lifesavers this year for other like-minded safety professionals to discover for themselves how it can make a difference in stopping this epidemic.”
