Gazprom Neft among the winners at this year’s Global CIO “Project of the Year” competition

Gazprom Neft has been named among the winners at this year’s annual “Project of the Year” competition, held by Global CIO, Russia’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) community, nominated for “Best Large-scale Solution”.

The company’s entry centred on a project for the development of a company-wide IT management system, implemented in 2015–2016 by specialists from Gazprom Neft’s IT, Automation and Telecommunications Department, together with various production units and Gazprom Neft subsidiary ITSC. It involved the development of an organisational structure for the management of IT assets, a new service catalogue, and the creation of a methodology for designing resource-service models for assessing labour-intensity in the provision of IT services.

The system is now used by more than 1,200 Gazprom Neft IT specialists throughout Russia, with a self-service portal accessible to all employees — approximately 60,000 people. The upgraded system is capable of processing more than 130,000 user requests and enquiries per month, offers more than 1,000 IT services, and is fully scalable.

This is the second time the IT services enterprise management system has been recognised for an award at the “Project of the Year” competition. The first version of the system, implemented in 2014, having been a winner in the 2014 Global CIO “Project of the Year” competition, nominated for “Best Industry Solution.”

Konstantin Kravchenko, Head of Gazprom Neft’s IT, Automation and Telecommunications Department, commented: “The provision of IT services is fundamental to the activities of all IT service departments at Gazprom Neft, with the company’s business efficiency largely dependent on their continuity, usability and quality. Which is why we are making considerable efforts to develop this area. The IT services enterprise management system is one of the key elements in the delivery of IT services to users throughout the company. We are continually working on its further improvement, and it is gratifying to see these efforts so highly rated by the professional community.”

The “Project of the Year” awards is an annual ceremony for the IT industry, taking place since 2012 and organised by Global CIO, the Internet portal created for Russia’s Chief Information Officer (CIO) community, with the support of the Russian Society of IT Directors. Competition winners are determined by Internet votes cast by IT Directors.

The official “Project of the Year” awards ceremony took place in Moscow on 26 January. More than 200 projects were nominated this year, with approximately 1,600 IT Directors casting their votes. This year’s winners included Sberbank, SIBUR, Rostelecom, Rostec, VTB24, and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
