Gazprom Neft and Rostelecom sign strategic partnership agreement on innovative development and the Industrial Internet

Gazprom Neft and Rostelecom have signed a strategic partnership agreement on innovative development and the Industrial Internet, the core aim of which is the establishment of long-term and effective collaboration between both companies, the development of new business models, and the joint development and implementation of innovative IT technologies.

One of the key working points will be the implementation of programmes and initiatives, as well as exploratory and practical projects, pertaining to the Industrial Internet.* On which basis, Rostelecom is currently involved in developing an Industrial Internet platform which could, with the involvement of Gazprom Neft specialists, be adapted in line with the company’s current and future business processes and industrial applications.

In addition to this, joint work on monitoring trends in innovation is also envisaged, as well as information sharing and scientific and technical collaboration.

According to PJSC Rostelecom Senior Vice President Maria Florentieva, the strategic partnership agreement with Gazprom Neft on innovative development and the Industrial Internet is the logical continuation of the companies’ collaboration in IT. “The implementation of the Industrial Internet is today one of the most important trends impacting practically all industries in the next few years. IIoT technologies have enormous potential for the oil and gas industry, allowing greater safety and effectiveness in industrial processes, and making possible insights into the necessary measures to be taken. Rostelecom, for its part, has proved itself as being a reliable business partner to major clients for many years, ready to make a contribution to helping Gazprom Neft achieve its new strategic objectives.”

As Konstantin Kravchenko, Head of Gazprom Neft’s IT, Automation and Telecommunications Department, points out, collaboration between the two companies is directed at cooperation in the development and implementation of the Industrial Internet in Russia, as well as their joint participation in developing the necessary corresponding standards, emphasising that: "The development of the Industrial Internet is of immediate interest to all areas of industry, including oil and gas companies. Gazprom Neft is constantly advocating closer collaboration between industrial enterprises, equipment and IT suppliers, telecoms operators, and scientific and research organisations, in order to engage in the active development of the market for the Industrial Internet in our country,

* The Industrial Internet (the Industrial Internet of Things, IIoT) — is the concept of building info-communications (infocomm) infrastructure, envisaging the connection of any non-domestic devices, equipment, receivers, sensors and automatic process control systems (APCS) to the Internet, and the integration of all of these, each with each other, allowing the development of new business models in the provision of goods and services and their delivery to consumers.
