MEXICO CITY, Dec. 01, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Grupo Elektra, S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV: ELEKTRA*; Latibex: XEKT), Latin America’s leading specialty retailer and financial services company and the largest non-bank provider of cash advance services in the United States, announced today that on December 30 it will pay in advance US$275 million of its US$550 million Senior Notes, with a coupon of 7.25% and due in 2018. The amount will be paid to bondholders, in proportion of their holdings, at a call price of 101.825%.

Prior to the advance payment, the company will also cancel out US$45 million of bonds of the same Senior Notes that have already been repurchased.

To make the advance payment, the company issued Certificados Bursátiles Fiduciarios for Ps.3,500 million last October, through its subsidiary Dinero Express, and will use cash generated by Grupo Elektra, within the framework of solid financial performance and dynamic operations.

The payment reflects the company´s firm strategy to substitute dollar-denominated liabilities for local currency debt and further strengthens its capital structure.
