Let's get digital: Free download from ACP compiles literature abstracts on latest dental technologies

CHICAGO, Dec. 1, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dentists considering new and highly touted digital technologies might wonder: where's the evidence?

A great place to start looking for it is inside the pages of "Defining Digital Dentistry: A Survey of Recent Literature" – a free, new compilation resource on the subject prepared by the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) in association with five top dental journals.

"Digital dentistry is a key area of focus in the ACP strategic plan, and this resource is one of the outcomes of that plan," said Dr. Susan E. Brackett, ACP President. "We are grateful to the journals that participated, which is a testament to a shared vision for the advancement of dentistry and a commitment to provide the best care for our patients."

The ACP plans to update the abstracts with new additions through 2019 as partner journals publish new literature focusing on digital dentistry and digital technologies. The five contributing journals include The International Journal of Prosthodontics, Journal of Dentistry, The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, Journal of Prosthodontics and The Journal of the American Dental Association.

"It's a compilation of abstracts that takes the pulse of the current digital dentistry technology," said Dr. Lyndon Cooper, ACP Education Foundation (ACPEF) chair and a board certified prosthodontist. "It's not comprehensive, but it serves to inform anyone who picks it up as to where we are in the state of the art."

A generous grant to the ACPEF from Henry Schein, Inc., enabled creating the free compilation as a valuable resource for all dental stakeholders — including private practitioners, educators, students, residents and the corporate industry.
