Dag Hammarskjold Plaza Displays Art by Phyllis Hammond

Dag Hammarskjold Plaza is the historic gateway to United Nations headquarters

NEW YORK, USA, November 28, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Dag Hammarskjold Plaza is known as a park of tranquility in the midst of midtown Manhattan, and especially this holiday season, the Plaza's reputation just got another boost with the addition of new sculptures at the Plaza.

Phyllis Hammond's sculptures amidst an outdoor park setting have created a fall/winter contemplative space for interaction and conversation.

Five sculptures crafted of steel and aluminum stand up against the windy chill in shots of blue, green, red and yellow and orange. Entitled Tempo, Alien, Flying, Gateway and Sign of Freedom, the sculptures are topped by whimsical elements that look like playful, looping doodles that rotate in the wind.

“We are excited to host the sculptures of Phyllis Hammond at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza that builds an inspirational art setting for the neighborhood and all visitors to enjoy,” said Sherill Kazan, President of Friends of Dag Hammarskjold Plaza.

The open space of the Dag Hammarskjold Plaza is the historic gateway to the UN headquarters and a staging ground for cultural festivities.

Friends of Dag Hammarskjold Plaza is a nonprofit community organization made up of citizen custodians and New Yorkers who believe in the importance of public space and gardens, and bound by the conviction that healthy parks make healthy neighborhoods.

The Phyllis Hammond art exhibition runs until April 16, 2017.
