Idaho salmonella peanuts remain on shelves!

Nuts For You recalls peanuts after feds discover nuts are from Peanut Corp. of America.

Boise, ID(JusticeNewsFlash.com)--Nuts For You has participated in a voluntary recall of up to 30 pounds of Roasted and Salted Peanuts on June 25, 2009. Nuts For You is a company located in Preston, Idaho. Safety regulators, with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) www.fda.gov and the Franklin County firm, issued the recall after discovering their peanut products consisted of previously recalled peanut items from Peanut Corporation of America. Bags of Roasted and Salted Peanuts may be contaminated with Salmonella. The FDA, an agency under the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) http://www.hhs.gov, is primarily responsible for the safety of foods, dietary supplements, drugs, vaccines, medical devices, cosmetics, veterinary products, and blood products.

The following item is under federal recall:

- 1 lb. “Nuts For You” Roasted & Salted Peanuts with a “1 84419 00007 0” UPC number and a “Feb 18, 2009 sell by date

The recalled peanut products were sold exclusively at Nuts For You’s gift store. The gift shop’s address is 645 North State Street, Preston, ID 83263. The peanut products were available for purchase from March 15, 2008 to January 15, 2009. No illnesses related to the recalled peanut items have been reported. When ingested, although rare, Salmonella can cause severe or deadly infections in children, elderly people, and people with poor immune systems. In otherwise healthy individuals, symptoms of Salmonella include abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea, bloody diarrhea, and fever.

A full refund is available for consumers at the place of purchase. Questions may be directed to the Idaho firm at 800-774-7033. Consumers who have fallen ill due to the recalled products may be entitled to compensation for damages.
