Experts to Discuss Translating Military Experience Into College Credit

CHICAGO, IL, USA, October 18, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) will host a session designed to demonstrate how military training and experience can be applied toward college credit at its 2016 International Conference, CAEL CEO and President Pamela Tate announced today. To be held in Chicago November 9-11 at the Palmer House Hilton, the conference will feature guest speakers, workshops, roundtable sessions and networking opportunities designed to help adult learners succeed.

"This session is a must-attend event for those who feel enough isn't being done on the campus or state level when it comes to advocating for student servicemembers and veterans," said Tate. "During this session, representatives from the Multi-State Collaborative on Military Credit (MCMC) will share their experience and will offer tangible strategies for participants to become advocates for student veterans in higher education."

The mission of the MCMC is to facilitate interstate partnerships of 13 states to help veterans transition from military life to college, and to translate competencies acquired by veterans through military training into college credits. Panelists will provide best practices in the areas of articulation of credit, certification and licensure, communication, and data and technology.

Moderated by Sara Appel, MCMC project coordinator, panelists for the session include:

• Danny Eakins, Administrator, Office of Employment Education & Policy, Ohio Department of Veterans Services
• Karla Wiscombe, Associate Director of Academic Affairs and Transfer Coordinator, Kansas Board of Regents
