Kuwait to host Military Logistics & Procurement Conference in November

Supported by the Armament & Procurement Authority of the Kuwait Ministry of Defence, the event will host senior logistics & procurement officers from Kuwait.

SALWA, KUWAIT, September 28, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Supported by the newly-formed Armament & Procurement Authority of the Kuwait Ministry of Defence, the Military Logistics & Procurement Kuwait conference, organised by IQPC Middle East, is set to see international leaders in defence logistics and procurement descend upon Kuwait to discuss the event’s main theme of “Streamlining logistics and procurement in the age of joint operations”. Serving as a forum for the officers from the Kuwait Armed Forces to meet with their international counterparts and members of the defence industry, the event will provide a forum to better understand how militaries can work together to improve logistical capabilities.

This is an important year for the Kuwaiti Armed Forces, who in addition to having recently concluded a number of major deals such as the $9bn Eurofighter deal, have seen their parliament approve a special $10bn addition to their defence budget to support additional procurements. In addition to this, the country has seen its first action as part of the Saudi-led coalition of forces intervening in Yemen.

As a result of these developments, the conference will take joint operations as its main theme, seeking to outline how logistics and procurement heads can make sure their forces and equipment work seamlessly with allies in order to maximise efficiency and improve the effectiveness of forces.

The event is set to be a major focal point for the defence industry in Kuwait, as the event’s director from IQPC Middle East, Rory Keith summarises, “A combination of factors has set this up to be an excellent event.

The creation of the new Armament & Procurement Authority, regional situation and bumper defence budget will ensure that there is much to discuss at the event”.

Extending support to this event Major General Lafi Al Aazmi, Chief of the Armament & Procurement Authority of the Kuwait Armed Forces, will be joined by an impressive roster of speakers from the UK Ministry of Defence, United States Central Command, NATO and a number of other prominent speakers such as logistics commanders from Poland and Germany.

Speakers confirmed to take part in the event include:
• Major General Lafi Al Aazmi, Chief of the Armament and Procurement Authority, Kuwait Armed Forces
• Major General Angus Fay, Assistant Chief of the Defence Staff (Logistic Operations), UK Ministry of Defence
• Major General Edward F. Dorman III, Director – J4, United States Central Command
