South and Central Asia: Assistant Secretary Ryan Travels to India and Nepal

Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Evan Ryan will travel September 26-30 to India and Nepal to explore opportunities to further strengthen people to people relations, including through educational collaboration, programming to empower women and girls, and cultural heritage preservation.

In New Delhi, India, on September 26-27, Assistant Secretary Ryan will meet with exchange program participants, visit the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation projects near Humayun’s Tomb UNESCO World Heritage site, and interact with local students. In Mumbai on September 28, she will interact with students at a women’s college, visit an EducationUSA advising site, and meet with exchange program alumni who are leading entrepreneurs.

Assistant Secretary Ryan will then travel to Kathmandu, Nepal, on September 29-30, where she will meet with Ministry of Education officials, engage an English Access classroom, and meet with Nepali youth working on community projects to promote entrepreneurship and women’s and girls’ empowerment. In addition, she will visit several cultural sites supported by the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation.
