Sept. 28 Webinar to Highlight Strategic Partnerships for Clean Energy and Economic Development

The U.S. Department of Energy Office of Indian Energy, in partnership with Western Area Power Administration, is hosting a free webinar on "Strategic Partnerships for Clean Energy and Economic Development Project Regulatory Considerations" Wednesday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time.

Attendees will learn how partnerships can help:

  • Align economic development and clean energy development strategies and policies
  • Leverage resources
  • Reduce or remove policy and program barriers and silos
  • Identify the emerging opportunities and challenges clean energy industries face in the near and long term.

Doug MacCourt, Senior Policy Advisor for the Office of Indian Energy, will kick off the webinar. Alex Dane, Project Lead at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, will discuss opportunities and examples of tribal partnerships with federal, local, and nonprofit agencies that help support community development goals and activities. Jana Ganion, Energy Director for the Blue Lake Rancheria in California, will highlight key partnerships the Tribe has established to move closer to completing its low-carbon community microgrid project. Jim Zoellick, Senior Research Engineer for Schatz Energy Research Center at Humboldt State University, will also offer perspective as a partner on the Blue Lake Rancheria project and discuss their experience working with the Tribe.
