Macsween of Edinburgh won the Regional Growth Business Award for Scotland and Northern Ireland at last night's industry-leading Food and Drink Federation Awards. The ceremony, held at London's The Brewery and hosted by television personality Hardeep Singh Kohli, celebrated businesses and industry professionals from across the food and drink supply chain. The category was sponsored by Grant Thornton LLP.

Macsween is a third generation family company based in the Scottish capital and is the UK's leading haggis manufacturer. Macsween is passionate about making great tasting innovative food in an ethical and sustainable way. Its food is handcrafted using only the finest ingredients combined with unique family recipes. Being able to produce in small batches enables Macsween to preserve its craft and maintain the provenance and quality for which their food is famous worldwide. Sales and turnover have grown consistently over recent years and the business is also looking to maximise its success in the UK market by replicating this in a number of foreign markets in the coming years.

Ian Wright, Director General, FDF, said: “The FDF Awards winners represent the gold standard in food and drink manufacturing and we value the importance and contribution of our regional growth businesses within the food and drink industry. Macsween of Edinburgh is a clear leader in Scottish food and drink, with an enviable record of growth and innovation over several years. I congratulate Macsween on a well-deserved win”

Trefor Griffith, Head of Food and Beverage at category sponsors Grant Thornton UK LLP commented: “Grant Thornton is delighted to once again be supporting the Growth Business category for this year's Food and Drink Federation Awards. We're committed to building a vibrant economy by helping dynamic businesses like Macsween of Edinburgh unlock their potential for growth.
