MERCEDES TAKES TO THE TRACK AT PAUL RICARD TESTING PIRELLI’S 2017 WET TYRES

Milan, September 21, 2016 – The first day of the latest Pirelli tyre test has concluded at the Paul Ricard circuit in the south of France, with Mercedes. Pascal Wehrlein drove a mule car, modified to simulate 2017 levels of downforce, in order to test next year’s wider wet tyres.

Conditions remained sunny with ambient temperatures reaching 25 degrees centigrade, as well as some wind that made it quite tricky to maintain a consistent level of water on the track between one run and the next. Nonetheless, Wehrlein already covered 80 laps in the morning, ending the day with a total of 135 laps under his belt.

These tests will continue tomorrow to complete the two-day session, again with Wehrlein at the wheel.

The dimensions for the 2017 wet weather tyres are: Intermediate: 305/675-13 at the front and 405/675-13 at the back; Full wet: 305/680-13 at the front and 405/680-13 at the back.

The dimensions for the 2017 slick tyres are 305/670-13 at the front and 405/67-13 at the back.
