New Law in Texas affects Multi-Line Telephone Systems as of September 1, 2016

HOUSTON, TX, USA, September 15, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- When seconds count in an emergency situation, the most important thing you can provide for your clients (customers) is the most advanced equipment ready to deal with their situation.

With the enforcement of Texas' new Kari's Law, which went into effect on September 1, 2016, Houston-based telecommunications company, VirtualTone LLC. Is ready to address your concerns. Their phones and service are state-of-the-art and are proud to announce their compatibility with the specifics of Kari's Law.

Kari's Law, implemented by the Commission of State Emergency Communications, requires that all businesses, schools, hospitals and other organizations with multi-line phone systems (MLTS) be required to provide direct access to 911 instead of having to dial "9" to call out first, therefore simplifying the calling process for the emergency situation.

The law, which was signed by Governor Greg Abbott in 2015, also requires all capable systems to notify a central location on site when a 911 call is placed.

Being prepared is essential for compliance with Kari's Law, in addition to be able to deliver access to 911 operators for your clients.

To achieve compliance in the CAPCOG 10-county region, organizations can work with their MLTS service provider and coordinate with their local 911 call center. With these simple steps, any organization can verify they comply or learn how to attain compliance.

If a MLTS cannot meet Kari's Law requirements without a substantial cost, organizations can request a one-year waiver at www.texas911.org/KarisLaw/RequestWaiver. Organizations that receive the waiver must place an instructional sticker adjacent to or on all noncompliant, outbound capable telephones instructing the user how to access 911 services.

Contact VirtualTone to confirm your outgoing lines can directly dial 911. VirtualTone, uses strategic integration with ConnectWise, the number one business management platform worldwide, to address any communications situation.

About Kari's Law
Kari's Law had a Sept. 1, 2016 deadline for compliance, and waivers must be submitted before that deadline and no later than Sept. 1 of each following year.
Kari's Law is named after Kari Hunt Dunn, a mother of three who was brutally murdered in 2013. She was 31-years-old when her estranged husband forced her into a motel bathroom in Marshall, TX. and stabbed her to death. Kari's 9-year-old daughter was just outside the door. She tried to call 911, but never got through because she didn't know she had to dial "9" first to get an outside line.
