Outstanding Talent from the South East Recognised in Food and Drink Federation Awards Shortlist

Food companies from Kent and London are going head-to-head to win the Regional Growth Business Award (South East) in the industry-leading Food and Drink Federation Awards. The shortlisted companies represent the best of the South East and are drawn from all parts of the region, emphasising the quality of food and drink manufacturing right across the area.

  • Salter's Must Chup based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent is a producer of a range of sauces combining mustard and fresh tomato chilli ketchup. All are vegetarian/vegan friendly, gluten-free and very versatile, being suitable for use as a dip, side sauce, marinade or general ingredient. This ambitious and growing brand has an active presence at farmers markets and food festivals, in addition to its growing social media profile.
  • Simply Ice Cream is located in Ashford, Kent and supplies handmade luxury ice cream and sorbets in a range of over 32 flavours to the retail, food service and tourism trades. From small beginnings in late 2005 where they trialled four flavours in a local farm shop for six months, they now supply shops across the UK, including 350 independents across the South East.
  • Sweetpea Pantry is found in Putney, London and is on a mission to make it easier to get goodness into foods to encourage healthier eating by children. They have designed recipes and manufactured a range of healthy mixes with a focus on clean label ingredients, no refined sugar and nutritious ingredients like chia, flax, oats, quinoa and teff. Sweetpea Pantry aims to make it easy for busy families to make nutritious snacks and meals with all dry ingredients included in the pack.
  • The London Bread Factory is a wholesale artisan bakery, based in Hendon, northwest London, are dedicated to creating exceptional bread, pastries and cakes. They sell their products across a diverse range of businesses from Michelin-starred restaurants and five-star hotels to royal households, restaurants, pubs and independent cafes. The London Bread Factory was the 2015 Regional Growth Business champion.
  • Fools and Queens from Battersea, London crafts low-sugar, hand-made luxury puddings, taking away the divide between a healthy or an indulgent dessert. Its mission is to reinvigorate the love for the Great British Pudding by providing a delicious balance between indulgence and lowering sugar intake.

The Food and Drink Federation Awards 2016 will showcase and celebrate the best of food and drink businesses from right across the UK. Finalists will gather together with their peers and colleagues on 22 September 2016 for a gala evening at The Brewery, London to recognise the industry's achievements and to hear which finalists have been successful.

As well as acting as a platform for the industry, the evening – which will be hosted by broadcaster and presenter Hardeep Singh Kohli – will enable guests to come together and discover more about the many innovations underway in food and drink in the UK.
