Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta supports Finnougoriya international festival

The fifth international Finnougoriya festival took place in Ukhta as part of the celebrations devoted to the 95th anniversary of the Komi Republic and the 87th anniversary of Ukhta. Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta co-sponsored the event through its integrated charity program.
The anniversary Finnougoriya festival brought together over 200 performers representing professional state-funded ensembles from Karelia, Mari El, Udmurtia, and Komi.
The festival aims to promote local traditions, discover new talent, support and unite ensembles from Russia’s Finno-Ugric regions, and help people share their ideas and experience. Finnougoriya’s program included a holiday parade across Ukhta’s central avenues and the Friendship Marathon race with the participation of various national and cultural autonomies. The concert line-up featured the Umarina state ensemble from Mordovia, the Kantele national ensemble from the Republic of Karelia, the Italmas state vocal and dance ensemble from Udmurtia, and the Mari El state vocal and dance ensemble. BEM, the Hungarian state folklore ensemble, was a special guest at the festival.
Participants performed at several venues in Ukhta, while the festival guests had a chance to sample national cuisines and visit a Finno-Ugric arts-and-crafts fair.
Although the annual Finnougoriya festival used to take place in Hungary, its organizers chose Ukhta as the host city for the prestigious anniversary event thanks to the efforts of the Komi Republic Government and Governor Sergey Gaplikov. It was made possible by the arrangements made at the World Congress of the Finno-Ugric Peoples that was held in Finland in June 2016.
Background
Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom supplying natural gas to consumers in nine regions of northwestern Russia and ensuring gas transit to the CIS and Europe. The gas transmission system operated by the company stretches across Russia’s northwestern areas from the Yamal Peninsula-based Bovanenkovskoye field and Baidaratskaya, the world’s northernmost compressor station, to the country’s western borders.
Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta’s areas of operation cover over 15,100 kilometers of gas trunklines. In 2015, the company transmitted more than 160 billion cubic meters of gas.
The company has 24 branches, including 14 gas pipeline operation centers, and 44 compressor stations with 83 compressor workshops. Gas transmission is performed by 418 gas compressors with a total installed capacity of 5,766 MW, while gas distribution is handled by 174 gas distribution stations. There are also ten CNG filling stations in operation.
Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta adopted the ISO 9001:2008 quality management system and the ISO 14001:2004 environmental management system. The company employs upwards of 13,000 people. Its headquarters are located in Ukhta, Komi Republic.
