Jerry was born in St. Louis, Missouri and was graduated from Arkansas State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radio/Television Journalism. Upon graduation he was a radio announcer at KBTM in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Judy was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended Penn State. Later, she was a Deputy Sheriff and Bailiff in the Atlanta, Georgia court system for 10 years before she became an Executive Recruiter and started her own recruiting company. She is an expert at assisting veterans leaving the service creating resumes for civilian employment.

Jerry served 23 years on active duty with 15 duty stations around the world serving at some joint commands with Army, Air Force and Marine Corps personnel and understands well the stress of moving.

With two years in the Army's Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) while in college, Jerry began his Navy career in the enlisted ranks at the Navy's Recruit Training Center in San Diego, California. At graduation from Boot Camp he was awarded the highest award of over 2,000 recruits, "The American Spirit Award" for academics, military bearing, professionalism and patriotism.

His subsequent assignments included:

Counterinsurgency School and a simulated Prisoner of War Camp in Warner Springs and Camp Pendleton, California, in preparation for his next set of orders.

Commander River Assault Flotilla One in South Vietnam as an E-3 Seaman in the Navy's riverboats along with the Army's 9th Infantry Division in the Mekong Delta.

Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, Rhode Island. During the 16 weeks of school, he was selected as the Company Commander of "Alpha" Company. Commissioned "Ensign" in the officer program.

News Desk Assistant for the Navy's Chief of Information (2 stars) in the Pentagon.

News Media Division Officer for the United Nations Command and Eighth United States Army (4 stars) Headquarters in Seoul, Korea. Jerry also escorted free world news media members to the monthly talks with the north Koreans and Chinese in Panmunjom, Korea, within the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). While at this assignment he also drafted the then Top Secret Public Affairs Plan ("Breeches Buoy") for the return of the 100 man USS Pueblo crew that the north Koreans had kidnapped and captured their ship and held in captivity for nearly a year.

For his highly successful work in crafting the Public Affairs Plan for the return of the USS Pueblo crew, he was invited to become a staff officer for the Commander-in-Chief Pacific Fleet (4 stars) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, as the daily morning Staff Briefer for Public Affairs and as a Special Projects Officer. While at CINCPACFLT, Jerry received the Joint Service Commendation Medal for his performance in Korea.

Public Affairs Officer, Naval Education and Training Command, (3 stars) Pensacola, Florida.
