The infographic is based on the ISO 27001 Global Report 2016, which summarises the responses of 250 information security professionals worldwide who have implemented (40%), are implementing (40%) or are looking to implement (20%) ISO 27001.

The ISO 27001 implementation drivers and challenges infographic reveals that the most important driver for ISO implementation is improved information security posture, as reported by 98% of the respondents. This is followed by alignment with information security best practice (67%) and competitive advantage (56%).

Moreover, the benefits of implementing ISO 27001 – which closely align with the drivers for implementing ISO 27001 – are improved information security across the organisation (55%), improved company image and reputation (11%), and improved competitiveness (8%).

Furthermore, the infographic lists the challenges that teams face when implementing ISO 27001 and securing the board’s buy-in. 20% of respondents reported challenges convincing the board that information security is a critical business issue, while 21% reported struggling to secure sufficient budget to implement an ISMS.
