Denying Immediate 911 Emergency Medical and Police Services is Discrimination and it is Deadly

People with disabilities lives matter too, wide-scale discrimination and civil rights violations must be stopped.

DELMAR, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, August 8, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- New York Governor Cuomo Ignores Civil Rights of Disabled
Governor Cuomo took active measures to block basic civil rights of 1,000,000 New Yorkers with disabilities in residential care facilities and group homes. The Cuomo administration’s actions and inactions have ensured that 911 emergency first responder medical and police services would not be immediately notified when the disabled are victims of physical and sexual assault crimes or have died suspiciously. Mandated reporters and witnesses continue to be directed to report suspected crimes, suspicious activities and deaths to Cuomo’s State abuse hotline https://www.justicecenter.ny.gov/sites/default/files/documents/JC_RebrandedPoster_ENG_Print.pdf , where most cases disappear. https://www.justicecenter.ny.gov/sites/default/files/documents/JusticeCenter2015AnnualReport.pdf District Attorney’s and medical examiners are purposefully kept in the dark and are rarely notified guaranteeing a lack of prosecutions. http://bigstory.ap.org/article/34c9c059196a4b70bc8ded92d2fbe4b7/9-deaths-no-charges-raise-questions-about-oversight-agency Abusers and negligent provider agencies are protected from litigation in most cases, instead of the disabled.
The Jonathan Carey Foundation “Civil Rights Walk for the Disabled” team went to Washington D.C. to demand Justice and seek civil rights investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice. http://jonathancareyfoundation.org/ The “Civil Rights Walk for the Disabled” was to take decisive action to end decades of horrific discrimination.
The blatant unequal treatment of People with disabilities in New York State, which, in many cases, leads to their premature death, must not and cannot continue. The Jonathan Carey Foundation is fighting for the basic civil right to “equal protections of the law” guaranteed to all people, under the New York State Constitution https://www.dos.ny.gov/info/constitution/article_1_bill_of_rights.html and U.S. Constitution. https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/amendmentxiv

People with disabilities lives matter too, wide-scale discrimination and civil rights violations must be stopped. Basic equal rights and equal privilege to emergency 911 first responder medical and police assistance for people with disabilities in group homes are being systemically, denied in New York State. The direct result of purposeful bypassing of the 911 Emergency call systems and local police, crimes against the disabled, are not being prosecuted, therefore, in the vast majority of cases, the perpetrators of these crimes go unpunished and able to possibly harm or even kill the same person other innocent victims.
Egregious inequalities and civil rights violations continue in New York State in 2016 after two major exposes, Willowbrook https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbiYJkiX-Dg and the New York Times “Abused & Used” investigative reporting series http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/nyregion/abused-and-used-series-page.html?_r=0 , exposed the horrors speaks volumes about how New York State treats their most vulnerable.
We must speak up and demand New York protect her most vulnerable and ensure mandated reporters directly call 911 to end these civil rights violations.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is admired worldwide for his great courage and all that he fought for and unfortunately, died for, equal rights for all, which include millions of Americans with disabilities. It is hard to fathom such levels of discrimination still exists over 50 years after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. began fighting for civil and equal rights, but it does. Jonathan in an entirely different way suffered and died for a great cause which is to help many other innocent and extremely vulnerable children and adults with disabilities. Jonathan died at the age of 13 because he was disabled and because he was denied immediate 911 first responder medical and police assistance. Jonathan was in dire need of help, he was ignored, he was shunned and Jonathan was discriminated against and as a direct result he was killed. These egregious human rights, civil rights and equal rights violations can be stopped and great changes can happen when people begin to speak up and stand up against such injustices. Countless lives will be saved if we do.
Stand with us for “equal rights” and “civil rights” for people with disabilities in New York State and throughout our great country by signing our petition at www.jonathancareyfoundation.org. Consider a donation of $9.11 to help 911 become required by law to be immediately called by all mandated reporters regarding all physical and sexual assaults, gross negligence of care, significant and suspicious injuries and when a person with a disability is in medical distress or stopped breathing all together. http://jonathancareyfoundation.org/donate/
