TMLEP achieves Cyber Essentials certification with IT Governance’s ‘Get A Lot of Help’ packaged solution

IT Governance Ltd has helped The Medico-Legal Experts Practice (TMLEP) achieve certification to the UK Government-backed Cyber Essentials scheme.

ELY, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM, July 13, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Cyber security consultancy firm and CREST-accredited certification body IT Governance Ltd has helped The Medico-Legal Experts Practice (TMLEP) achieve certification to the UK Government-backed Cyber Essentials scheme.

Alan Calder, the founder and chief executive officer of IT Governance, said: “I am pleased to congratulate TMLEP for achieving certification to the Cyber Essentials scheme. Certification proves TMLEP has taken precautionary measures to avoid around 80% of cyber attacks and increase its resistance to cyber threats.”

The Cyber Essentials scheme sets out five security controls that organisations of any size can implement to mitigate cyber risks and improve their cyber security posture: secure configuration, boundary firewalls and Internet gateways, access control and administrative privilege management, patch management, and malware protection.

Steve Hawes, the CIO for TMLEP, said: “As a company that handles sensitive medical information, TMLEP consider the security of our clients’ information of paramount importance. We have instigated policies and procedures designed to protect that information and having the Cyber Essentials certification is the first step in displaying our commitment to protecting this information to our customers.”

IT Governance helped TMLEP achieve Cyber Essentials certification with its Get A Lot Of Help packaged solution. This all-inclusive package includes a full-day’s on-site consultancy service with a cyber security expert, SAQ review, external and internal vulnerability scans, on-site assessment, guidance on completing the self-assessment questionnaire, and advice on implementing the five controls.

“We opted for the Get A Lot Of Help package to ensure that we understood and complied with the scheme in every way possible and the support and assistance we received from our consultant in these areas was invaluable, making the whole certification process very straightforward. We were very pleased to receive this third party certification as it allows our customers to have confidence in our commitment to information security” Steve Hawes continued.

IT Governance is a CREST-accredited certification body and provides certification packages that can be deployed by any company wishing to achieve Cyber Essentials certification.
