National Foundation for Teen Safe Driving Announces Scholarships and Grants

Students Honored as Role Models


/EINPresswire.com/ -- SOUTH AMBOY, NJ--(Marketwired - June 30, 2016) - National Foundation for Teen Safe Driving ("NFTSD") has announced the recipients of scholarships and grants in recognition of outstanding contributions in helping to advance the Foundation's mission.

Three high school students were each awarded $1,000 scholarships for their achievements in promoting the importance of safe driving and smart choices through their participation in Students Against Destructive Decisions ("SADD") and other safe driving initiatives. The recipients are Alyssa Royce from Edison High School (Edison, NJ,) Nathan Apodaca from North High School (Torrance, California,) and Kaylee Williams from Murrieta Valley High School (Murrieta, California.)

"Each of these recipients demonstrated strong leadership and admirable qualities that support the Foundation's mission and the mission of SADD," stated Roy Bavaro, NFTSD executive director. "These outstanding student leaders have been exemplary role models by promoting good choices and motivating others to follow their lead."

$1,000 grants were awarded to the Wappingers Falling Junior High School SADD Chapter (Wappingers Falls, NY) and the Murrieta Valley High School SADD Chapter (Murrieta, CA.) Each of these chapters were honored for their outstanding efforts in promoting the importance of good choices among their fellow students.

In addition to these awards, the Foundation has granted over $100,000 this year to schools in support of student led activities aimed at promoting teen safe driving among their peers and in their local communities. These grants were made possible through generous donations from DCH Auto Group. DCH has been a long supporter of teen safe driving and recognizes the need for advanced education, awareness and advocacy that help save lives.
