Arizona Heat Becomes Dangerous for Low-Income Persons With Disabilities

AID.org Foundation Grants AC Unit to Man With Broken Back

/EINPresswire.com/ -- GLENDALE, AZ--(Marketwired - June 24, 2016) - Bobby Eddington lives in a modest studio apartment with his two small dogs. The summer heat has been reaching over 118 degrees, and Bobby's apartment only operates on a swamp cooling system, leaving a sweltering heat that can be dangerous for his 61-year-old body that is already in discomfort from disabilities like a broken back.

"We are trying to reach out to friends, or anyone that will take me and the dogs in during the hottest times. It is just not safe for me or my boys (referring to his pets)."

Bobby reached out to AID.org Foundation through their website ww.aid.org, and filled out a grant application through the Receive Assistance portal. After just 10 minutes, AID Foundation sprang into action.

"After just ten minutes, I got a call saying they were on the way with an AC unit for my window. I couldn't believe they answered me so quickly. They are angels."

Jennifer Rogers, spokesperson for AID.org says, "Heat related deaths are a reality, and unfortunately there are too many cases of people with disabilities that are living in environments that are not safe. We saw Bobby's case as an emergency and acted swiftly to make sure he and his pets were going to make it through the summer."
