Independence Day: Resurgence Release Renews Discussion on Potential for Alien Invasion

VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA, UNITED STATES, June 23, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The release of the latest Hollywood blockbuster, Independence Day: Resurgence, has once again renewed the scientific discussion on the possibility of aliens and the potential for an alien invasion.

The movie has spurred interest among more than just the scientific community, as Google Search trends have shown that more and more people are looking to learn about “alien invasion” and “interstellar travel.”

“I’m not surprised that Independence Day: Resurgence has had this effect,” said Chris Kennedy, author of the Theogony and Codex Regius science fiction trilogies, where characters travel to the stars and fight extraterrestrial forces. “With as many stars as there are, just in our galaxy alone, there is a pretty good likelihood that life has evolved on planets other than Earth.”

Kennedy, who is set to release his sixth science fiction novel, The Dark Star War, in two weeks, has been prolific in detailing what alien intervention might mean in terms of opportunities for human growth both on and off the planet.

“Although exposure to alien technology is likely to help us make great advances, there is also a great deal of risk in trying to incorporate too much too fast,” Kennedy added. “Just like in Independence Day, though, we may not have a lot of choice. If we were faced with a hostile alien invasion, we would have to use every means at our disposal to survive, and even that might not be enough. Any race that is advanced enough to come to our planet is going to have technology far more advanced than ours; we’re going to need a healthy dose of luck, too, if we’re going to survive.”
