SMi reports (22.06.2016): Award-winning scientist from Haemostatix joins speaker lineup for Peptides 2016.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, June 22, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- SMi Group’s much anticipated Peptides Conference returns to London on 6th and 7th July for its third annual show.

SMi is proud to announce that Renata Zbozien, VP Research of Haemostatix will be joining our expert speaker lineup to discuss innovations in peptide development, particularly as a therapeutic lead for traumatic bleeding. In the run up to Peptides 2016, SMi Group spoke to Renata about industry developments and her upcoming presentation entitled “Developing a peptide coagulant and formulation to treat traumatic bleeding.”

“I will discuss the potential of a novel class of peptide coagulant. There is a need for improved coagulants, particularly for trauma in developing countries. Trauma sometimes kills people through physical damage to the brain and other internal organs, but haemorrhage (serious uncontrolled bleeding) is responsible for 30%–40% of trauma-related deaths. Our peptide lead candidate is being developed as a treatment for bleeding in surgery and trauma.”

Renata is responsible for Haemostatix’s research program including the design and testing of new peptide-based drugs, and the development of novel formulations. She has invented a compound (currently in pre-clinical development) which has won the First Prize in the Royal Society of Chemistry Emerging Technology competition in 2015.
