IT Governance partners with Allianz Insurance plc to launch free cyber risk assessment tool
IT Governance and Allianz have collaborated to produce the unique Allianz Cyber Risk Assessment tool, which is designed to help Allianz’s clients protect themselves from potential cyber attacks. The tool provides policyholders with an online questionnaire based on the UK Government’s Cyber Essentials scheme, which sets out recommended minimum standards of cyber security.
Alan Calder, the founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, said: “As a major provider of cyber security solutions, training and expertise, we are delighted that our partner Allianz will be able to provide their commercial customers with a highly effective tool that will enable their clients to establish their own cyber security postures.”
The Allianz Cyber Risk Assessment tool allows commercial policyholders to complete a free cyber assessment through the online risk management website Risk Director.
Upon completing and passing the assessment, policyholders will receive a tailored cyber security improvement report, enabling the policyholder to proceed with applying for Cyber Essentials certification directly with IT Governance.
Mona Said, customer propositions manager and Allianz Insurance, said “Changes to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), mean that businesses are required to implement stringent preventive measures to avoid data breaches, or, from as early as 2018, they will face hefty fines of up to €20m or 4% of their global turnover.”
She continued: “According to the Department of Business, Innovation & Skills, by ensuring network security meets the Cyber Essentials standard, around 80% of cyber attacks can be prevented. Organisations of all sizes continue to suffer external attacks. In the last year, two thirds of cyber attacks were carried out by unauthorised outsiders and the average cost of these incidents has doubled, resulting in costs between £75K and £311K for SMEs.”
