IT Governance’s IBITGQ qualifications recognised by the PCI SSC

ELY, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, UNITED KINGDOM, June 3, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- IT Governance is pleased to announce that its ISO 27001 Advanced-level qualifications, developed by IBITGQ (the International Board for IT Governance Qualifications), have been recognised by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC).

According to the PCI SSC, the IBITGQ qualifications contribute to the requirements for an individual applying to become a PCI DSS Qualified Security Assessor (QSA).

The IBITGQ ISO 27001 Advanced-level qualifications include ISO27001 Certified ISMS Lead Implementer (CIS LI), ISO27001 Certified ISMS Lead Auditor (CIS LA), and ISO27001 Certified ISMS Internal Auditor (CIS IA).

Alan Calder, the founder and executive chairman of IT Governance, says: “As a major provider of cyber security training courses that lead to industry-recognised qualifications, we are delighted to announce that IBITGQ’s ISO 27001 Advanced-level qualifications are accepted by the PCI SSC.”

In its February 2016 update, the PCI DSS Qualification Requirements for Qualified Security Assessors v2.1 called for each QSA employee performing or managing PCI SSC assessments to possess at least one of the accepted accredited, industry-recognised professional certifications.

In addition, the Council said that certified ISO 27001 courses should be accredited to the ISO/IEC 17024 standard. “It is the responsibility of the QSA/candidate to ensure that the certifying body is accredited, and to provide evidence of accreditation to PCI SSC”, according to the PCI SSC.

Compliance with ISO 17024 requires that the certification meets a global, industry-recognised benchmark that is consistent, comparable and reliable worldwide, demonstrating the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure recognition from employers and peers.

As an IBITGQ training development partner and Accredited Training Organisation (ATO) in the UK, IT Governance has been a key influencer in the development of the syllabus and learning objectives of each of the ISO 27001 training courses. All of the IBITGQ qualifications are certified by gasq, which is fully accredited to the ISO/IEC 17024:2012 standard.

IT Governance has been working with IBITGQ since 2011 to ensure training courses and qualifications are accredited by an independent and internationally recognised exam body.
