Herpes Esophagitis May Develop in Those with a Healthy Immune System; The CBCD Reviews a Report

Herpes simplex esophagitis (HSE) is common in patients with suppressed immune systems, but may also occur in healthy individuals. (1)

“Infected with the herpes virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2)? The CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD

The herpes simplex virus (HSV), usually HSV-1 that most commonly causes cold sores and fever blisters, can also cause a condition called esophagitis. “Esophagitis is an inflammation of the lining of the esophagus, the tube that carries food from the throat to the stomach.” (2) This condition occurs frequently in infected individuals with a compromised (weakened) immune system. It also occurs, from time to time, in those who have a perfectly healthy immune system. When this happens, it may cause problems with swallowing, ulcers, and scarring of the esophagus. In some instances, a condition known as Barrett's esophagus may develop, which is a risk factor for esophageal cancer. (2)

If the herpes virus causes esophagitis in healthy individuals, Dr. Kadayakkara and colleagues wrote that “The most common presentation includes acute onset of odynophagia (painful swallowing), dysphagia, retrosternal chest pain (e.g., GERD symptoms), and fever. Less frequent symptoms include a prodromal syndrome (early symptoms), weight loss, and upper respiratory symptoms such as cough.” (1)

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that individuals concerned about a herpes virus infection take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin. The formula of these natural antiviral products was shown to reduce HSV symptoms in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. Moreover, it was designed to help the immune system target the latent virus.

The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD. The studies showed that the formula is effective against the herpes simplex virus, and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the HSV … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (3) The study authors also wrote that, “we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (3)

Both products can be ordered online on the Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR websites, here:

Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses.

To date, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims. Note: Novirin has the same formula as Gene-Eden-VIR. However, it contains higher quality and more expensive ingredients.

Dr. Kadayakkara and colleagues also noted that “HSV-1 is most commonly associated with HSE, although HSV-2 infections were reported … to cause rarely meningitis, pulmonary infections, and esophagitis.” (1)

What treatments are available against herpes infections?

Until now, drugs approved for the treatment of HSV infections include penciclovir, acyclovir, famciclovir, and valaciclovir. However, their effectiveness is limited. For instance, “a meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled and two dose comparison studies evaluated the effect of aciclovir, famciclovir or valaciclovir on symptoms. The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day.” (3) Unlike drugs or vaccines, which target the active herpes virus, there are two natural remedies that target the latent HSV. These clinically backed remedies are Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR.

The CBCD reminds the public that Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are not a cure. However, two clinical studies, published in peer reviewed medical journals showed that their formula decreases symptoms in infected individuals. Specifically, the formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was shown to safely and effectively reduce herpes symptoms. Additionally, it was designed to help the immune system target the latent virus.

“We recommend that individuals who may be concerned about a herpes virus infection take Novirin or Gene-Eden-VIR, which are designed to help the immune system target the latent herpes virus.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD
