CORYDON, IND., UNITED STATES, May 31, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- CORYDON, Ind. – Author Andrew Morton recently signed with Tate Publishing to begin the publication process of his medical book, “The Demise of Medicine: The Terminal Diagnosis of American Health Care.”

A story of awakening, challenges and reality, “The Demise of Medicine” is an eye-opening book about the current and future state of health problems in America.

“I entered completely naive to the medical field at the age of 17. Through my journey, I realized the healthcare system is fundamentally broken on many levels and is getting worse as we speak. As I continue to practice medicine, my frustration and dismay grow at not only the direction that healthcare is going as an institution but the apathy and resistance that we physicians meet in just trying to take care of our patients. We are expected to perform at a level of care set by the government and health insurers while simultaneously being denied the tools and resources to do so and penalized when we cannot achieve the goals. I may not be able to change the system, but I feel I need to try to help people understand, even if it is just one person,” shares Morton when asked about the inspiration behind his book.

“The story is about the life of Dr. Morton as an infantry medic in Desert Storm, a medical student, and a physician, showing the problems with the health care system,” states Darcy Blobaum, Acquisitions Editor for Tate Publishing.

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book is available through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.

Dr. Morton grew up in Milltown, Indiana. Upon graduation from Crawford County High School, he completed his Pre-Medical studies at Ball State University and received his Medical Degree from Indiana University in 1997. He completed his Residency in Family Practice from Naval Hospital Pensacola in 2000. Dr. Morton is glad to be back home after serving 16 years in the Armed Forces.

He is married to his wonderful wife Tina and together they have seven children.

After initially enlisting into the Army Reserve, Dr. Morton was called to serve at an Infantry Medic in Iraq during Desert Storm. Upon completion of his undergraduate study, he accepted a medical school scholarship and commission as an Officer in the US Navy. After Residency, he served as Ship Medical Officer aboard the USS FRANK CABLE (AS-40) serving Asia and the Far East.
