The Los Angeles Conservation Corps Announces the new Paddle the LA River Program for 2016

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 25 at 10:00AM.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, USA, May 25, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- —Continuing the celebration of its 30th Anniversary, the Los Angeles Conservation Corps proudly announces Paddle the LA River 2016. Tickets for the summer season go on sale Wednesday, May 25th at 10 AM for guided kayak tours down a 1.5-mile stretch of the LA River in the San Fernando Valley.

To commemorate the 30th Anniversary, the Los Angeles Conservation Corps has reduced the single ticket price to $30.00. Despite the price reduction, the high-caliber program will remain untouched with the length of the trip, the number of guides, insurance and equipment remaining the same to maintain the high-level experience guests have learned to expect from the Los Angeles Conservation Corps’ Paddle the LA River program. The trailblazing Paddle the LA River program was the first legal official program on the LA River and at the reduced price, is the best value.

A distinct difference from the Paddle the LA River program from years past is that the program will only be open to the general public on Saturdays. The LA Corps will use the other days of the week to monitor the environmental health of the paddle setting and to conduct river cleanups in order to enhance the paddling experience.

Partners for Paddle the LA River 2016 include: Pacoima Beautiful, Heal the Bay, LA Sanitation and Urban Semillas.

The program will run from June 4 to September 17, on Saturdays only. With the lower ticket price and fewer days on the river, trips will sell out quickly. Participants will assemble at the parking lot near the entrance of Lake Balboa/Anthony C. Beilenson Park off of Balboa Blvd. between Victory Blvd. and Burbank Blvd.

The address is:
Lake Balboa/Anthony C. Beilenson Park
6182 Balboa Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 91316

Councilwoman of the Sixth District of Los Angeles Nury Martinez, is a tremendous supporter of the Paddle the LA River program. She stated: “Historically and aesthetically the Los Angeles River is a tremendous resource and an integral part of our culture. Residents and visitors need to experience “Paddle the LA River,” to gain appreciation of this local treasure."

LA Sanitation Director, Enrique C. Zaldivar, said, “LA Sanitation’s commitment to the Los Angeles River extends through our interest in educating the youth of our city. Paddle the LA River combines environmental awareness with youth development. We’re proud to partner in this noble outreach.”

Pablo Cardoso, Program Director of the LA Conservation Corps’ Northeast LA site, stated: “Every year, we look to enhance the Paddle the LA River program. The overall experience has always achieved outstanding remarks, yet we still strive to make the program better. In honor of the 30th Anniversary of the LA Conservation Corps, we lowered the price with absolutely no compromises on the experience. By reducing the number of days on the river, we can continually make adjustments to create a distinctive memory this summer.”
