NVBDC and CBRE to Create New Opportunities for Veteran Business Owners

/EINPresswire.com/ -- DETROIT, MI--(Marketwired - May 25, 2016) - National Veteran Business Development Council (NVBDC), a nonprofit corporation serving American veterans, announced today a new corporate relationship with CBRE, Inc. ("CBRE"), the world's largest commercial real estate services and investment firm. As the newest corporate partner to NVBDC, CBRE is committing to help create new opportunities for veterans and those with military experience through its supplier network. CBRE supports NVBDC in their efforts to extend business opportunities and build a qualified pool of certified Service Disabled and Veteran Owned Businesses (SD/VOBs) that can meet either CBRE or client business requirements.

"With their national reach CBRE is the perfect partner for our Service Disabled and Veteran Owned Businesses (SD/VOBs). Many of our SD/VOBs are large enough to support CBRE on a regional basis. Other SD/VOBs will be great local partners. We love the opportunities that CBRE represents for our Veteran Business Owners of all sizes. We recognize that CBRE is a key Tier I supplier to many of the corporations that have accepted our certification. As a Tier 1 supplier, CBRE is in a position to assist their corporate partners to meet the SD/VOB spend initiatives within their supply chain," said Keith King, President of the NVBDC.

CBRE recently established a corporate-level Supplier Diversity Program to help mentor, refer and integrate qualified and certified suppliers into the provisioning of products and services for itself and its customers. The program includes members of its Asset Services and Global Workplace Services businesses that have been engaging diverse suppliers for several years.

"This partnership is the next step in our commitment to be more inclusive in our sourcing practices and making Supplier Diversity a more integral part of our day-to-day business operations," says Frank Callaghan, CBRE Senior Vice President, Global Sourcing. "We recognize the opportunity to support and influence suppliers on a broader scale. Our Supplier Diversity Program strives to provide an inclusive environment to do business with small, minority-owned, women-owned, LGBT-owned, and veteran-owned businesses."

"We are committed to fulfilling our role as a responsible corporate citizen by supporting and adding value to the communities where our employees and clients live and work," said Dave Pogue, CBRE Global Director, Corporate Responsibility.

"As personnel retire or leave the military day to day, many wish to start their own business. Once these new Veteran Business Owners are certified, they have ample opportunities to work with companies like CBRE and the other corporations with a SD/VOB program in place. With CBRE's international reach and buying power, many new opportunities will be created for our certified SD/VOBs and veterans," added King.
