ELIZABETHTOWN, KENTUCKY, USA, February 16, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Connie Redmon is an illustrious and esteemed Real Estate Agent at Schuler Bauer Real Estate in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

Connie was born in Somerset, Kentucky and went to Eastern Kentucky University as a part-time student while working as a City Clerk for the City of Richmond.

Connie graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a focus on Juvenile Correction. She says, “I wanted to save the juvenile delinquents from a life of crime, even though I was very sheltered and had never been out in real world. I was very motivated to work in the probation and parole department.”

At the age of twenty-one, Connie became the first female Police Officer in Richmond, Kentucky, in an era where it was not accepted. She recalls, “This was a time before sexual harassment was a word. I was often harassed and I had to constantly prove myself. The other officers didn’t accept me. I couldn’t hang out with them and I had to train with another officer for three months before I went to the Police Academy – but the men went right away. You see, women just weren’t supposed to do this kind of work.”

While serving as a uniformed officer, Connie met her future husband, Lee, who was fresh out of the Marine Corps. He was taking classes for the Reserved Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) in Criminal Justice at Eastern Kentucky University so he could join the Army. They got married the day before he graduated.

Lee got his commission and was immediately assigned to the United States Army Garrison Ansbach in Germany for three years.

While in Germany, Connie worked for the 1st Armored Division in the finance department which included paying the bills for the Reforger Training program and handling the Morale & Welfare activities for the Army.

The Redmon’s then PCS’d back to the United States and Lee was assigned to the Blue Grass Army Depot in Kentucky where Connie rejoined the Police Department.

Connie soon took a maternity leave to have her son Jason and later, her daughter Courtney.

Connie returned to college to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration to work with Military youth in various capacities.

Lee was reassigned to Fort McClellan, Alabama, home of the Military Police school, where Lee was a Military Police Officer. Connie volunteered there and worked with the General on the post in all areas of youth activity.

The family was then assigned back to Germany at Mannheim Taylor Barracks where Connie worked as an alcohol and drug coordinator for the Military and also as a Teen Program Coordinator/Director for the youth program.

The Redmon family then PCS’d back to Fort Knox, Kentucky, where Lee retired. Connie went back to college at Western Kentucky and procured her Master’s Degree in Higher Education. She says, “I accepted a position at Eureka College in Illinois as the Career Development Director and was also the Associate Dean of Students. I worked there for ten years and I absolutely loved it!”

The family then moved back to Fort Knox where Lee worked as an Educational Technician for the Junior ROTC. McKendree University maintained a branch of their college in the Fort Knox area and Connie became the Director of the Branch for three years.

Although Connie had many fantastic jobs in her life and acquired a stellar education, she says, “I really wanted to be my own boss, have creative control and freedom as well as the opportunity to make my own decisions and work my own hours, so I decided to go into Real Estate. I had plenty of experience in moving – but no support when we bought our houses. In the Military, when you move, you often have no connections. As a transplant to the area via the Military and as an experienced mover, I understand the anxiety and emotion involved in buying or selling a home and trying to learn about a new community and my passion is to help others find the treasures and joys of living in this area that has, not only Fort Knox, but several surrounding communities filled with great people, lots of leisure opportunities and quick access to several larger cities and those amenities.”

Connie was presented the opportunity to earn her Military Relocation Professional (MRP) Certification through the local MLS Board. She says, “Realtors came from across the State to take the class. I wanted to know more about the VA loan so that I understood all the ins and outs of it so I could better serve my Military clients. I wanted to be able to help them in all dimensions.”

Connie received the Quality Service Award, the Masters Award and teaches the Code of Ethics for her Board to the members. She is also a Designated Agent for the USAA Real Estate Rewards program and is a member of the North Hardin Lions Club and enjoys volunteering for community activities such as “Hooray for Heroes.”

Connie sees the MRP Certification as an opportunity to give back to the Military community and let them know that she is always there for them. “Now that I’m no longer a part of it, I really miss it. This is a way for me to stay connected to them. A lot of people don’t realize that when you spend your life in the Military, you are forever a part of it, but when it’s no longer a day to day involvement, you miss it terribly. I love everything about our Military. Their devotion and camaraderie, their intensity of duty and commitment to protect our country and our freedoms, their allegiance and loyalty to their family members and their unwavering respect for each other and what they do.”
