Modular Steel Structure From Acrow Bridge Provides Access During Bridge Construction in Plumas County, California

Temporary Bridge Helps Maintain Traffic Flow in Four-Season Recreational Area

/EINPresswire.com/ -- PARSIPPANY, NJ -- (Marketwired) -- 02/08/16 -- Acrow Bridge, a leading international bridge engineering and supply company, noted today it provided the materials and technical assistance for the recent installation of a temporary bridge over Bailey Creek on County Road 322A in Plumas County, California. The bridge will be used during the demolition and reconstruction of the existing concrete structure, which was found to be structurally deficient at inspection. The temporary bridge is expected to be in place until summer 2016.

U.S. National Forests make up over 70% of Plumas County, and the area is a four-season mountain retreat. The temporary bridge, 100' long by 13'7" wide, is providing access to both Federal and private land north of the Lake Almanor Peninsula and is situated approximately 60' downstream of the original bridge center-line. Although there is low traffic in the area, Plumas County DPW required that the temporary bridge needed to be built to an AASHTO HL93 loading specification in order to accommodate the possibility of carrying heavy logging trucks.

The design engineer was Parsons Brinckerhoff; Steelhead Construction completed the installation.

"After the temporary bridge is removed, Plumas County plans to use 60' of the bridging immediately for crossing a riparian area at the county maintenance yard, while the balance of the components will be warehoused for emergency use or planned detours," said Jack Arizcuren, Pacific States Sales Manager at Acrow. Added Bill Killeen, Acrow Bridge President and CEO, "Our modular bridges are the perfect choice for temporary detour installations. Available for rent or purchase, they are cost-effective and provide safe and dependable routes for area residents and businesses."
